One of the most important celebrations for Russian school-leavers, called the “Last bell”, will take place on the 25th of May. It is going to be the very “last bell” for those who are finishing school this year. It is a traditional ceremony in the schools of Russia and some other post-Soviet countries. A symbolic last school will traditionally be rung by a first-year primary school pupil.
On May 25 you can see the graduating students nearly everywhere. They will wear the classic school uniform or formal dresses. However, for girls it has become customary since the 1990s to dress up in the Soviet-style school uniform with white aprons and white bows in the hair.
