Day of the National Flag of the Russian Federation – is one of the officially established holidays in Russia, declared in 1994 by decree of the President of the Russian Federation Boris Yeltsin and is celebrated on August 22. However, it is a working day not a public holiday.
The date of this holiday is associated with the events of the 1991 August coup when protesters carried a huge white-blue-red flag, and the President of the Russian Federation Boris Yeltsin announced the establishment of the new National Flag of Russia.
