Russia scraps almost all remaining covid-related restrictions from 15 July 2022 as the number of COVID cases across the country is currently decreasing.
Practically it means more travel options to enter the country. From 15 July 2022 all foreign nationals can enter the country through all border check points, including by air, sea or land.
Required documents for travel
All travellers must be in possession of a valid visa unless exempt and a passport. Russian consulates process tourist and business visas as usual.
A negative PCR test taken within 48 hours before their arrival in Russia is still required.
How to get to Russia
By air
Currently there is limited international air connection (most convenient flight options are via Turkey, Gulf States, Armenia, Azerbaijan or Serbia) with Russia. Ticket prices tend to be very high and we recommend booking flight tickets well in advance.
By road
You can now travel to Russia from Helsinki by bus. It takes 8 hours to get from Helsinki to St. Petersburg. This is the cheapest option to get to Russia now.

- Departure from Helsinki 16:15, arrival in St. Petersburg 23:25

By rail
You can enter Russia from Mongolia by train. Train 305 departs Ulan Bator to Irkutsk on Saturdays and Sundays at 15:22 and arrives in Irkutsk next day at 15:15 local time.
