A flight connection can be the beginning of another adventure. If you are planning a trip to Russia, why not break the journey in Georgia, Armenia or Azerbaijan? Spend a few days exploring Tbilisi, Yerevan or Baku, or extend your holiday with a tour through the Caucasus.
Through Best of Caucasus, we offer small group tours and individual programmes across these three fascinating countries. Expect ancient monasteries, mountain scenery, UNESCO World Heritage sites, delicious food and a warm welcome.
Three capitals, three different experiences
Tbilisi: colourful streets and Georgian hospitality
Georgia’s capital invites you to slow down and explore. Wander through the Old Town, admire its wooden balconies, discover the sulphur bath district and enjoy the cafés and restaurants tucked into its winding streets.
A short stay also gives you time to visit nearby Mtskheta, whose historic monuments are UNESCO listed. With a longer programme, discover the vineyards of Kakheti or head towards Kazbegi for mountain views and the hilltop Gergeti Trinity Church.
Food is part of the pleasure. Try khinkali dumplings, freshly baked khachapuri and dishes flavoured with walnuts and herbs. Add a glass of Georgian wine and an evening around the table can become one of your favourite travel memories.
Yerevan: Armenian culture and ancient monasteries
Yerevan is a welcoming base for discovering Armenia. Spend time around Republic Square, explore the Cascade and its art spaces, and settle into a café before heading out to see more of the country.
Beyond the capital, visit the classical temple of Garni and the UNESCO-listed Geghard Monastery, where parts of the complex are carved into the rock. A longer stay opens up opportunities to discover Lake Sevan, mountain landscapes and more of Armenia’s remarkable religious heritage.
At the table, look forward to lavash bread, grilled meats, fresh vegetables and traditional dishes made for sharing. Armenian hospitality gives these encounters a personal touch.
Baku: a historic city beside the Caspian Sea
Baku brings together a UNESCO-listed walled city, grand boulevards and striking modern architecture. Explore the lanes of Icherisheher, see the Maiden Tower and the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, then enjoy a walk along the Caspian waterfront.
Outside the city, Gobustan’s UNESCO-listed rock art landscape offers a glimpse into a much older world. With more time, travel further into Azerbaijan to discover places such as Sheki, with its history, craftsmanship and distinctive architecture.
Azerbaijani cuisine adds another reason to linger: fragrant pilaf, dolma, kebabs and tea served with local sweets make a satisfying end to a day of sightseeing.

A convenient stopover before or after Russia
Tbilisi, Yerevan and Baku have direct flight connections to Russia, including Moscow. Depending on your departure airport and travel dates, one of these capitals may be a practical place to change planes—and an excellent opportunity to add another destination to your holiday.
Instead of spending a few hours in transit, stay for two or three nights. We can help coordinate your flights and arrange accommodation, airport transfers, local guides and sightseeing around your onward journey.
You could explore the Caucasus before joining your Russia tour, or finish your holiday there on the way home. We will check the available flight connections and help you choose a programme that fits comfortably into your itinerary.
Stay longer and discover more
A short stopover introduces you to one city, but the Caucasus deserves more time. Our tours range from holidays in a single country to itineraries combining Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Choose a cultural journey through historic towns and monasteries, a holiday focused on food and wine, or a programme that brings together sightseeing and mountain scenery. We can also create an individual itinerary for your interests, dates and preferred pace.
