Russia – Discover the Unknown

Celebrate New Year 2027 in Russia: there is still time to plan your winter escape

Make this New Year a journey to remember. Instead of spending the festive break at home, welcome 2027 with a winter holiday in Russia: grand palaces, remarkable museums and two cities full of character.

There is still time to arrange your trip, including the visa. With December approaching, now is a good time to discuss your plans with Go Russia and start putting everything in place.

Two capitals, one festive holiday

Our Winter Romance and New Year Fun in the Russian Capitals tour runs for eight days, from 26 December 2026 to 2 January 2027, starting in St Petersburg and finishing in Moscow.

In St Petersburg, discover Catherine Palace and the Amber Room, explore the Hermitage and enjoy a city tour. Seasonal highlights include a traditional troika ride, a folklore show and an evening at the ballet. The sleigh ride depends on suitable conditions, while theatre performances and tickets are subject to schedules and availability.

An overnight train takes you to Moscow, where you will explore Red Square, the Kremlin and Armoury, the magnificent Metro and the city after dark. The package includes accommodation, daily breakfasts, English-speaking guides, sightseeing and entrance fees, airport and railway transfers, and second-class overnight rail travel.

Enjoy the season at your own pace

A winter city break offers a lovely balance: time outdoors to enjoy the atmosphere, followed by a museum visit or a warming meal. Between sightseeing visits, make time to stop at a café, browse for souvenirs or simply watch city life unfold.

For New Year’s Eve itself, think about how you would like to spend the evening. Whether you prefer a relaxed dinner or a livelier celebration, there are different ways to make the evening special. Ask us about available arrangements and any additional costs. Lunches and dinners are not included in the tour price, and special celebrations should be confirmed in advance.

There is still time to organise your visa

Planning in October gives you time to prepare for a late-December departure. The right visa depends on your nationality and circumstances, so contact us early with the nationality shown in your passport and your intended travel dates.

  • UK nationals: standard visa processing takes 20 working days. Urgent processing in four working days is also available for an additional fee.
  • US nationals: visa processing takes approximately two weeks.
  • Citizens of EU countries and many Asian countries are eligible for a Russian electronic visa.

We can help with visa support and application guidance.

Prepare for a comfortable winter trip

Pack a warm coat, layers, gloves, a hat and footwear with good grip. Choose insurance that explicitly covers Russia, and plan how you will pay for meals and personal expenses. Our practical guide to travelling in Russia covers money, mobile connections and getting around.
